Healthy Eats

I am on such a high again. A natural one from eating right and working out. I am dropping pounds!! 6 pounds so far and losing inches!! Thanks to a combination of exercise, drinking Vishakes and making healthy food choices. You make one healthy decision and it creates a domino affect.

I made another yummy Vi Shake concoction.

Cranberry juice, Ice, greek yogurt, 2 scoops Vishake, fresh mint

Fresh and creamy

I made this for dinner while my family devoured pizza. My husband was actually jealous.

2 small cans of tuna

1 can of cannelini beans

olive oil

lemon juice

salt and pepper

spinach.

Heirloom tomatoes or whatever you have on hand.

Light and very satisfying.

Apple TV is the bomb.

I have no excuses to say that I just can't workout today. I do have a small library of workout videos and hand weights but they are all 40- 60 minutes long. Now that isn't gonna cut it for my two girls. Mommy can't workout for one hour without interruptions.

So what do I do when I am in a pinch and need to get some wort of sanity in my day? I turn to this

This is an awesome video. You can pick and choose the segment you want to do and each one is just ten minutes. So if I get in 3 segments or just one because my two year old is literally hanging off of my leg I am okay and still feel great knowing that I did something great for myself.

And I should mention that I do own this little black box called Apple Tv. Love this since my netflix account is part of it which means I get to view so many of these fantastic movies and fitness videos.

No more wasted $$$ on fitness videos.

No more boredom from watching the same fitness videos that you can probably do now with your eyes closed.

No more excuses

Butt shaking, thigh burning good

Ever heard of Xtend Barre?
It's the new and latest balle barre workout.
It's a combination of dance and pilates. The class is amazing. I loved how my muscles worked so hard to near exhaustion. There was some serious burning and shaking going on and hurt so good. I highly recommend trying this workout. I have taken 4 classes and already feel stronger and I am seeing some results in my body.

The Xtend system sculpts the body proportionally so that all body parts are equally challenged. This total body workout serves to strengthen, lengthen, and stretch the body from top to bottom, from inside out. The end result is a long and lean physique... without added bulk. Developed from a dance / Pilates background, the Xtend workout combines the amazing results of dance with the principles of strength and safety in Pilates.

I've been featured as a hot Muffintop Mama

I have been featured on Muffintop Mama today.

Muffintop Mama is a mommyhood fitness site started by the lovely Louise. She is a busy mom, who like the rest of us, wants to get in shape while trying to balance it all at home and at work. This is a great site for inspiration, losing weight and trying to get back into those skinny jeans again. And today I am so honoted to be featured as a hot Muffintop Mama. Go over and check out her site.

Eating Green, Drinking Green not for St. Patty's Day

Hey Mikey she likes it. She really really likes it.

I found this simple easy recipe for a pesto pasta sauce from La Jolla Mom.

I did make a minor adjustment and used spinach instead.

Recipe:

2 cups Kale or Spinach

1 clove garlic

1/4 cup EVOO
good pinch of salt
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.

Blanch the greens for 2 minutes in boiling water.

Place all ingedients in food processor and voila.

The girls loved it and ate it. They had no idea that they were getting their greens.

Every morning I have one of these lovelies.

It 's called the Life Force Energy Elixir by Natalia Rose. It's from the book that I finished reading.

Recipe:

1 large beet

2 celery stalks

1 lemon

2 apples

6-8 Kale leaves

Absolutlely DELISH. I haven't had to drink my coffee or tea. This is a great energy booster. I tell you I look forward to one of these every morning. I lurve my juicer. I have never loved a kitchen appliance before. EVER. It's worth every penny. I just want to have every one come over and I can make juices for everyone. Just like that informercial The Bullet. You know where everyone sits around the island while the host whips up recipes. I want to do that. Seriously.

Another recipe of something I whipped up with what I had in the fridge.

Recipe:

3 carrots

2 apples

kale

cucumber

I made this in the middle of the afternoon. I needed that picker upper and this did the trick.

This is what makes me happy now. Crazy, but I am hooked.

A whole new approach to eating and what I am currently reading

I have been looking for a new way to eat without going totally raw or vegan and this may be the book. Natalia Rose is a well known raw foodie known for the Raw Detox Diet. I was looking for something not so hardcore and pretty basic and so far this may be the ticket for my new approach. Besides who doesn't want *Effortless, abundant weight loss, * Glowing, healthy skin, *Increased energy, * Fewer colds and flus, * A more positive attitude and increased mental acuity, which is her claim by following her 21 day regime.

I will keep you posted on my journey.

Motivational Mondays and Mud

I am crazy but looking forward to getting downright muddy.
My husband and I are officially signed up for the World Famous Mud Run.
Now let me also mention that this is held in Camp Pendleton. Yup the marine base.
The Mud Run is a challenging 10K run with hills, tire obstacles, river crossings, two 5-foot walls with mud on both sides, tunnel crawl, slippery hill climb, and the final 30-foot mud pit.
Oh Yeah. Looking forward to this in June.
Need to start getting motivated and working out again.
