Healthy Eats

I am on such a high again. A natural one from eating right and working out. I am dropping pounds!! 6 pounds so far and losing inches!! Thanks to a combination of exercise, drinking Vishakes and making healthy food choices. You make one healthy decision and it creates a domino affect.

I made another yummy Vi Shake concoction.

Cranberry juice, Ice, greek yogurt, 2 scoops Vishake, fresh mint

Fresh and creamy

I made this for dinner while my family devoured pizza. My husband was actually jealous.

2 small cans of tuna

1 can of cannelini beans

olive oil

lemon juice

salt and pepper

spinach.

Heirloom tomatoes or whatever you have on hand.

Light and very satisfying.

Butt shaking, thigh burning good

Ever heard of Xtend Barre?
It's the new and latest balle barre workout.
It's a combination of dance and pilates. The class is amazing. I loved how my muscles worked so hard to near exhaustion. There was some serious burning and shaking going on and hurt so good. I highly recommend trying this workout. I have taken 4 classes and already feel stronger and I am seeing some results in my body.

The Xtend system sculpts the body proportionally so that all body parts are equally challenged. This total body workout serves to strengthen, lengthen, and stretch the body from top to bottom, from inside out. The end result is a long and lean physique... without added bulk. Developed from a dance / Pilates background, the Xtend workout combines the amazing results of dance with the principles of strength and safety in Pilates.

Eating Green, Drinking Green not for St. Patty's Day

Hey Mikey she likes it. She really really likes it.

I found this simple easy recipe for a pesto pasta sauce from La Jolla Mom.

I did make a minor adjustment and used spinach instead.

Recipe:

2 cups Kale or Spinach

1 clove garlic

1/4 cup EVOO
good pinch of salt
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.

Blanch the greens for 2 minutes in boiling water.

Place all ingedients in food processor and voila.

The girls loved it and ate it. They had no idea that they were getting their greens.

Every morning I have one of these lovelies.

It 's called the Life Force Energy Elixir by Natalia Rose. It's from the book that I finished reading.

Recipe:

1 large beet

2 celery stalks

1 lemon

2 apples

6-8 Kale leaves

Absolutlely DELISH. I haven't had to drink my coffee or tea. This is a great energy booster. I tell you I look forward to one of these every morning. I lurve my juicer. I have never loved a kitchen appliance before. EVER. It's worth every penny. I just want to have every one come over and I can make juices for everyone. Just like that informercial The Bullet. You know where everyone sits around the island while the host whips up recipes. I want to do that. Seriously.

Another recipe of something I whipped up with what I had in the fridge.

Recipe:

3 carrots

2 apples

kale

cucumber

I made this in the middle of the afternoon. I needed that picker upper and this did the trick.

This is what makes me happy now. Crazy, but I am hooked.

Motivational Mondays and Green Monster Movement

The Green Monster

Needing a little more pep in my step these days and coffee is not the best choice especially for that 3pm energy slump that I encounter everyday. I did some research and came across on of my favorite blogs Oh She Glows and found that she has started the green monster movement. It's basically a green smoothie with some interesting veggie and fruit combinations. Many members of the movement have reported back with great results such as clear skin and increased energy. Sounds great where do I sign up. Click here for amazing recipes and results.

Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor

Right now I only have the magic bullet. It is awesome but not the best choice for juicing. So on my wishlist is the Breville juicer above. This thing I here is quiet and is easy to clean. My two favorite things. Hey I don't ask for much. Afterall, I am a SAHM of two and the words quiet and easy to clean are a rarity in this house.

Till then it's the magic bullet. Happy juicing everyone.

When life happens.....

After having my second daughter in November, I got a personal trainer, cut out the coffee and sugar and changed the way I ate. I made these changes because I was so tired all the time and moody. Yes, I did have an 8 week old at the time and a toddler too. I had two under the age of two and I wasn't enjoying it. I felt tired, sluggish and irritable. How can this be happening at such a wonderful time in my life? I needed to change. So I hit the gym, ate clean meals, drank water and it was getting better. My energy was up and I wasn't depressed.....

Now it's the present and I am back to feeling lazy, unmotivated and tired? My diet could be better and my exercise routine, don't ask. I can't believe this, here we go again.....

I decided enough is enough so I went to the market bought some fresh produce and flowers( always cheers me up) and I am heading my way to a healthy fit lifestyle. (crossing my fingers)

When life happens it can throw us off balance or rhythms. For me, I give up on everything. My once creative and enthused thoughts are shut down. I feel hopeless and overwhelmed. My consumption of water, healthy meals and green tea are now overriden by the occasional coffee, soda and fast food meal. It is so easy to go down this path. Our culture makes it attainable because it's everywhere. It's a mental game.

I may sound like I am being hard on myself but I have to in order to make healthy changes. I am writing this because I figured myself out. Amazing, such a simple concept and it's taken me years to fugure it out.

Green??....still tasty

I attempted to make a "green" smoothie today made with spinach, banana, frozen berries and water. It was surprisingly tasty, refreshing and light. As you can see the color is nowhere near green. I guess I should have added more of the green stuff (spinach). To be continued...

See you at the gym

So I've decided to join the gym. That's it...I've made up my mind. Of course I need a gym bag and what better way to do it in style with a fabu Lug bag. This one is the Puddle jumper and it comes in beautiful colors like this one in teal. See you at the gym
