Bug spray optional

It's that time of year, cool summer nights, barefoot picnics, stargazing and music in the park. I am looking forward to this Friday evening because a local swing band will be playing at our local park.
I think I will make the menu simple since it will be our dinner.
  • Avocado and ham sandwiches
  • Cheese and fruit platter
  • watermelon
  • chilled wine and juice for the little ones

Okay that sounds wonderful but..... I need to make sure it all goes as planned. Need to find parking among the thousand that will be there. Hopefully I'll find a great spot to dance, let my daughter go crazy and see the band. Oh yeah and hopefully the meal that I plan to bring doesn't end up being In -n-Out Burger, which isn't a bad thing.

Oh, and I must remember to bring bug spray.

Cocoon Couture

Cocoon Couture offers a unique line of accessories for childrens spaces. these are a few of my faves for my daughters play space.
Cute shoulder bags which I think would be great for our trips to the library.

The enchanted forrest tree. I love that it could be used for hanging clothes, costumes or whatever your little one can think of.

Enchanted tree which is smaller in scale.

Dreamy owl bean bags. If you go here you will see such a cute assortment for both boys and girls. I just couldn't decide but this one is so cute.

Good Morning Sunshine

This morning I woke up to a beautiful warm room. I love how the sun light filters through my living room in the early morning. It's been June gloom and it was so nice to wake up to a little sunshine.

My local market was selling these beauties at four dollars for the bunch.
Fresh flowers really make me happy.

A playroom for the family

I seriously need organization in the playroom. My daughter's toys are everywhere and it's getting out of hand. I am posting some inspiring photos for me to really get the ball rolling. ( I am sorry if your photo is posted and I did not give credit)
This is my favorite room. It has all of the components to a great play room. A seating area, craft area, organization, storage and media. Gotta love those built-ins.

Who doesn't love built-ins with molding.

This is exactly what I need to hold a tv and everything else that's lying around the floor right now.

Awww, love the shelving and chairs. A great place to start a library.

Spruce up your tiles DIY style

If you have plain boring porcelain white tiles and you are on a tight budget then you might want to consider these two DIY tricks for sprucing up your tiles.
Mibo tile tattoos are heavy duty peel and stick stickers that are impervious to water and moisture. They come in 4" and 6" squares and 3 different colors. You can purchase these at 2jane.com

For the serious DIY'er how about painting your tiles with epoxy paint. Refinishingonline.com sells kits that have everything for you to start your project.
This website is great because they have kits for just about anything. I am seriously looking into the cabinet painting kit. You have a choice of black , grey or white. I can't wait to tell my mom because her poor outdated kitchen needs some serious revamping.
Mom, if you are reading this there is hope.

Daydreaming Sunday

It's another June gloom Sunday. Can someone flick on the sun switch? Just here on the computer checking out my fave websites, daydreaming.....again. I thought I'd share with you my little bit of heaven this morning. Well, someday.
This is has to be one of my favorite kitchens ever. I love, love , love, white kitchens. I especially love the punches of color used. Aqua is so soothing and the white throughout makes it refreshing and gives it that beachy vibe that I love.
Love the open shelving, and the subway tile backsplash.
Love the little nook above the fridge holding all of the pretty aqua bottles and jars.
I love what they did with this antique hutch and how it was converted to a bar.

Father's Day craft ideas

I am thinking of having the girls make something for Father's day this year. I came across a recipe for salt dough handprints and thought this would be perfect. It's easy and I have all of the ingredients at home to make it. Here is the recipe to make this

Or how about painted canvases with handprints of the whole family. I love this project! This is definitely going on my project to do list.

An evening at the beach

On Sunday we took the family for some playtime at our local beach. We are lucky to live only 6 miles away. It is so nice to be able to cruise down for some fresh salty air and let Brooklyn run wild.
My daughter was so serious and calm when we brought her. She is at this stage where she imaginary plays, has conversations with dolls and objects and is really taking it all in like a sponge. I love this picture of her. She loves looking at the waves. After all, it can be very hypnotizing. Hmmmm....maybe I should bring her more often especially during her wild spells. JK.

She loves rocks and sea shells but we only found pebbles at this beach.

Briana's first dip in the ocean. She did great and not a peep came out of her. The water wasn't very warm either.

Here she is again in pensive thought. I wish I could get into her little head to see through her eyes and know what she's thinking.
