"BIG" girl beds

I think it is time to start thinking about changing my little girl's room to a "BIG" girl bedroom.

I can't believe how fast she's growing and her vibrant personality doesn't reflect the style of her room now. It's still a nursery with a conversion crib and lots of pink and sitting in her room the other day I realized how much fun her room could be. I have posted some inspiration and hope to get her room completed in the next few months.

Love the scale of the furniture. The canopy is so sweet too.

I love the bright colors , touches of the ocean theme and the wall hooks.

A baby shower and a shout out

I had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for my dearest friend Shana and I wanted to just give my shout out to some great vendors.

First off, she did not want any pink but we has to throw in just a touch with these roses.
If you live in LA you must go to the flowermart downtown LA. You can get bunches of flowers for as little as $6 dollars. My friend purchased 6 glass vases filled them with miniature tea roses grand total was something like $35. What a deal.

This yummy cupcake is actually a bath bomb made by Sudsymugsy on etsy. She's awesome and the bathbombs were a huge hit. The colors were perfect. We asked for red and turqouise and she managed to make it happen.

Mini cupcakes from Vanilla Bakeshop in Santa Monica. Her store is to die for. It was truly cupcake heaven. Actually it reminds me of a jewelry store for cupcakes. They are so pretty.

Papersource is a must for all of your paper needs. The sweet suitcase was another great find because it came in the coordinating colors for the shower. Instead of a guest book we had guests write a sweet note to baby Farrah and then place inside the box. These will be mementos of her special day. We read the notes later that day and they were so sweet and special.

The yummy favors (bath bombs) all wrapped up and ready to go.
The party was a hit and fun and I just loved the color combo of red and turqouise. Next month I host another babyshower but for a boy.

Whitewall & Co

Why wallpaper when you can do this.
I am loving this company. Whitewall & Co. has beautiful patterns, borders and wainscotting stencils. There are so many beautiful designs to choose from and the website also provides color combination ideas.
I am definitely going to try this since I have a fear for wallpaper application. This looks easy enough. I'll just need to be patient and find the time. Oh, honey......

Thank you bellemaison

I recently discovered a new blog love belle maison and she always posts such lovely inspiring pictures of interior design, art and photography. She herself is an interior designer and her work is beautiful. I am thanking her because she posted a unique find that I just can't get enough of. These antique wooden signs from Rockett St George are inspiring and uplifting. I am in love with these and here are a few of my favorites. Check out the e-boutique for more eclectic and funky pieces.

There's just something about painted wood.

Mediterranean Garden Part II

Well this past weekend we worked on our dirt pile. I am very pleased with the progress and I am looking forward to more work on my dream outdoor courtyard. We have a huge front yard that is perfect for creating an outdoor room. After so much research we decided on creating a natural wall with boxwoods. I just love boxwoods. I never realized how luscious and versatile they truly are. And much more cost effective than a stone wall. I was a bit sad at first that we couldn't hire someone to build us a wall but I think I am happy with what we have decided. In the end it will be a much softer and natural look. I have also posted some lovely inspiration via Decorno blogspot.
The start of something beautiful, 28 planted boxwoods all in a row.

I Love Suzani

I am loving these beautiful and colorful embroideries right now. I am seeing them everywhere lately. This traditional art form is making a comeback and what I love even more is that my local World Market is carrying these lovelies that you see above and you've gotta love that they are on sale.

Layer Cake Shop

For all you bakers a new shop is in town.
Check them out here

This site is for the baker who wants to add that extra special bit of wimsy or sweetness to their cupcakes. I am loving this cupcake kit above. This one is my fave because it's called the Homemakers Kit and just look at all of the 73 pieces that are included.
You will also find pretty cupcake wrappers (see below), colorful sprinkles, edible glitter, packaging supplies and pretty ribbons too.
I am looking forward to making my first batch of cupcakes and using some of their yummy decorations.

A Mediterranean Garden, part 1

My husband and I have been discussing our front yard lately. It's a bare dirt pile with no color or life, except what's left of the grass. I am so embarrased by it. There is no curb appeal and it can be depressing driving up to such an ugly view of our front house. I have so many ideas in my head it's going to explode. We have lived in our new house for two and a half years and let me tell you so much has happend in those years. Two babies later.... I am so happy to report that I {we} can start planning to make the yard come to life (literally).
My plans for the space is to create a mediterranean garden with spanish touches. This is my favorite garden style and will go with the exterior of our home. This project will be DIY and I can't wait to start. I will keep you all posted.

Hudson Block Co

What a great way to teach my daughters how to spell their names. I especially love the blocks because they are made of maple wood and it even comes in it's own personally labeled pouch.
You can find these on etsy.com

Colorful Playroom

You wouldn't believe that this wall is actually scrapbook paper. I love the cheery bright colors and simplicity of this project. An inspiring project that I may consider. Go here for instructions and more pictures of the amazing transformation.

Tools for the tired and time-starved

Mommy Track'd is a great site for busy moms (and dads too) who need a little help and guidance with chaos. I found these great tools (downloads) that are free to print from your own computer. This is just an example of one. There are more to choose from like menu planning and party planning. I just love free stuff.

I have these inspiring dining rooms in my design file. They are so different in style and there are different reasons for why I love them. I would love to have more dinners at home with friends and family. These rooms inspire me to do that.
